Former Lakers Superstar Anthony Davis Set to Return to the Court Soon

Former Los Angeles Lakers superstar center Anthony Davis could make his return to the court sooner rather than later.
According to NBA insider Marc Stein, Davis reportedly "is in increasingly strong contention to make his return to the floor during the Mavericks' upcoming swing through the Eastern Conference."

Stein also added that Davis is the closest of the two other big men to return to the court.
"The closest of the Mavericks' injured veterans to being activated. Fellow sidelined big men Dereck Lively (right ankle) and Daniel Gafford (right knee) returned to 3-on-3 activities this week, while newly acquired swingman Caleb Martin has again been derailed by a right hip injury after appearing in five games."
The 31-year-old could return in this upcoming four-game road trip for Dallas.
Davis last played on Feb. 8, when he made his Mavericks debut against the Houston Rockets. Although he was limited to 31 minutes and three quarters in the game, he was spectacular.
In that contest, the former Lakers big man recorded 26 points, 16 rebounds, seven assists, and three blocks.
Davis has been held to 43 games this season and was on pace to play a ton before he suffered the initial injury, which was an abdominal muscle strain.
Davis last played for Los Angeles in late January against the Philadelphia 76ers. He left late in the first quarter of a game that saw Los Angeles lose in a blowout fashion.
In the season, Davis has averaged 25.7 points per game, 12.0 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 2.2 blocks while shooting 52.8 percent from the field and 31.3 percent from three in 34.2 minutes of action.
The Mavericks suffered a ton of injuries since trading Luka Dončić to the Lakers. It started with Davis, and since then, they have lost Kyrie Irving for the season, Daniel Gafford and Dereck Lively II for a significant amount of time, and Caleb Martin.
It has been a tough month and a half for the Mavericks and their fans. The trade that no one saw coming came on Feb. 1.
The Lakers had no intention of trading Davis, but it was a deal they couldn't pass up on. Not only did they get younger, but they now have a face of the franchise that could lead them to excellence for the next decade or so.
Davis will be back on the court soon, and L.A. could see him when they travel to Dallas on April 9.
