Lakers News: Former Rival Retires Making LeBron James Oldest Player in NBA

A new reality for The King.
In this story:

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James will be entering his 21st season in the NBA, and this year marks the first time that he will be the oldest player in the league. Upon Udonis Haslem retiring this offseason, James became the oldest, but there was speculation that former Golden State Warriors forward Andre Iguodala could return.

He decided to officially retire on Friday, making James the oldest player in the league. This puts him in an interesting spot because he is still one of the best players in the game today.

The longevity of James has been incredible to watch, and it is a testament to how great he really is. James has dominated the NBA for over two decades and is still going strong.

He proved last season that when healthy, he is still a menacing presence for opponents to deal with. James dropped 40 in the Lakers final playoff game a year ago, as he tried to save their season.

The King is capable of still taking over games throughout a season, and it speaks to his level of preparation for each matchup. We likely won’t ever see a player like James again, so fans should make sure to not take his greatness for granted.

He has hinted at retirement of late, meaning that the end of his legendary career will be coming to an end soon. Father Time gets everyone, but it seems that James made a deal to delay for right now.

The Lakers enter the year with title aspirations, with James heading the ship. If he can win at least one more title, it would be a major accomplishment for his legacy, and may finally cement him as the Greatest of all Time in more people's minds.
