Lakers News: How Beat Reporter Feels Both LA Teams Will Fare In Postseason
Crypto.com Arena could have an active NBA postseason ahead of it.
Your 38-38 Los Angeles Lakers and Russell Westbrook's 41-36 Los Angeles Clippers have both looked fairly solid in recent weeks, and both appear destined to make some level of postseason in the Western Conference.
The Clippers are currently the fifth seed, and are two games clear of the seventh-seeded Minnesota Timberwolves -- and a possible play-in battle -- with just five left to play.
The Lakers are the West's eighth seed, and if they stayed there will get two chances to make the playoffs proper, an opportunity accorded to only the seventh and eighth seeds in each conference. LA has a shot at avoiding the play-in, as it is just 1.5 games behind the sixth seed, the 40-37 Golden State Warriors.
How far can either LA team go this season?
Mirjam Swanson of The Orange County Register believes that both teams have too many injury questions to really have a shot at making a deep playoff run this season. Swanson posits that any of the top three seeds in the conference, the Denver Nuggets, Memphis Grizzlies and Sacramento Kings, are likely to overcome either Los Angeles team in a matchup.
The Lakers next face off against the 39-38 Timberwolves, the seventh seed, tomorrow. Let's see how they fare with this chance.
