Lakers News: How Dennis Schröder Is Managing Left Ankle Sprain
Los Angeles Lakers point guard Dennis Schröder sprained his left ankle in LA's 123-117 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday, and has been striving to manage the ailment ever since.
Schröder recently acknowledged that he continues to grapple with the ailment, per Dan Woike of The Los Angeles Times.
“Yeah, I got a lot of treatment on my ankle. I feel good now,” Schröder revealed. “Last game was a little … was still thinking about it a little bit. But right now, I think I feel in a good place.”
The Lakers can hardly afford to lose another key role player right now, given that Schröder is currently their starting point guard because of another ankle sprain, this one incurred by incumbent starter D'Angelo Russell against the Warriors two weeks ago.
LA, of course, is also without its lone All-Star, small forward LeBron James, who has been sidelined indefinitely with a right tendon injury for the team's past four games.
Since taking over for D-Lo, Schröder has been averaging 13.8 points per game, with an underwhelming slash line of .358/.227/.889. He's also chipping in 8.4 assists, 1.8 rebounds and 0.8 steals a night. His playmaking and driving have been absolutely crucial to helping LA stay afloat as it weathers all these absences.
