Lakers News: How LeBron James Avenged His Blown Layup Against Jazz
During last night's slightly-underwhelming 135-133 overtime loss to the Utah Jazz's bench players, Los Angeles Lakers All-Star small forward became a part of the solution in the game's extra frame, after previously being part of the problem when he blew what would have been a game-winning layup at the end of regulation.
James went on to singlehandedly score nine of LA's 11 overtime points, including what wound up being the game-sealing layup after the fact.
After the game, James spoke with Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet about his team's chemistry, his own big night, and that redemptive layup.
“I drew it up," James said of the game-winning play. "I wanted to go quick so at least if I missed it, they came down, we got a stop, we got another crack at it. And then I had to redeem myself at the end of regulation. I smoked the layup. I mean, going to my left hand, my strong hand, for me to miss that, I had to make up for it. And I was able to make up for it."
When asked of the team's 7-1 record in its past eight games (including four straight wins), James was diplomatic in his response.
"It’s all about chemistry, the more minutes we get on the floor with one another the better we’ll be,” James said of the Lakers' recent four-game win streak.
"I'm thinking about putting my feet in an ice bucket right now, being completely honest," James commented when asked about his status for today's game against the Clippers.
