Lakers News: How World Cup Can Be Learning Experience For Austin Reaves

He just seems to be getting more confident as time goes on.

As Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard Austin Reaves gets ready for the upcoming season, he got some good work in this summer with Team USA. He got a chance to play on a global stage, while also making sure to keep in shape for the season.

It should easily help benefit his game going forward, as he looked more confident out there. Reaves admitted that he learned some new things from being around all the great players on the team, as Joe Vardon of The Athletic recounts.

“I think I’ve been able to learn a lot from a lot of really good players, a lot of really good coaches, and basically just see that I belong,” Reaves said.

He showed that he was deserving of the spot on the roster. Reaves showed out with Team USA, and while the team didn’t accomplish their ultimate goal, it was a special summer for the Lakers guard.

He has more capability to play on a team that has star players around him, while still being able to get his work in. He will be doing just that with the Lakers again this season, so it was another good test run for him.

His success from last season saw him receive a new contract over the summer, and the Lakers turned into a top team last year. LA will be counting on his continued growth this coming year, as they go for title number 18.

“I feel like I have competed at a high level,” Reaves said. “Obviously I have things to work on, but I feel like I can hit the ground running for the first of the year.”

Per The Athletic

If he can keep showing that he belongs, the Lakers will be a very tough team to deal with. His ability to run an offense, and get his own shot off is impressive. LA will give him more run time to control the offense this season after it showed much success during their playoff run.

The expectations are sky-high for both Reaves and the Lakers next season. But he showed that he isn’t afraid of the spotlight whatsoever.
