Lakers Injury Report: Status Of New LA Players Revealed Against Steph-Less Warriors
Tonight, at least four of the new Los Angeles Lakers players added to the team this week will be available to suit up in the purple and gold! LA heads up north to San Francisco to take on a Golden State Warriors team that will mercifully be without its best player, unfortunately the Lakers' own best player is a bit of a question mark tonight, too.
Fresh addition D'Angelo Russell just led his last team, the Minnesota Timberwolves, to a 119-114 overtime victory over the Dubs 10 days ago, scoring 29 points on 11-of-23 field goal shooting (including 7-of-17 from three). He's not listed on the latest league injury report, meaning he should be available to play.
LeBron James is only questionable to play due to the left ankle soreness that kept him sidelined Thursday in LA's shorthanded loss to the Milwaukee Bucks. Star center Anthony Davis is probable as he continues to recuperate from his right foot stress injury. Only one new addition, 3-and-D center Mo Bamba formerly of the Orlando Magic, is listed as absent thus far this evening, as he will sit for the third game of a four-game suspension.
Two-way Lakers piece Cole Swider and Scotty Pippen Jr. are with the club's NBA G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers. For the Warriors, Stephen Curry is out with the left leg injury that will keep him sidelined through the All-Star break.
Andre Iguodola, one of just two active NBA players who are older than LeBron James, is out with a sore right hip. Rookie point guard Ryan Rollins underwent a season-ending right foot surgery earlier, though he hadn't been a part of the team's rotation, so it's not a massive loss. Reserve guard Gary Payton II failed his physical with the team and could miss months due to a core injury that he had apparently been compelled to play with in Portland (though the Trail Blazers deny this), and it's possible that the Dubs' trade to acquire him will be rescinded.
