Lakers Injury Report: Timberwolves Role Player Breaks Wrist Ahead Of LA Game Friday

Shams Charania and Jon Krawcyznski of The Athletic reveal that imaging has revealed backup Minnesota Timberwolves big man Naz Reid broke his left wrist after falling hard on a dunk try. The ailment occurred during the second half of Minnesota's 107-101 defeat against the Phoenix Suns Wednesday.
Krawcyznski and Charania indicate that Reid will be unavailable for an extended period.
This is happening at a particularly inopportune time for the 39-38 Timberwolves, currently the eighth seed in the Western Conference. The New Orleans Pelicans, without All-Star forward Zion Williamson still, moved into seventh following a blowout 107-88 blowout win over the supposed league MVP favorite, Nikola Jokic, and his healthy Denver Nuggets.
Playing in their second tilt on a five-game road trip, your Lakers will face off against Minnesota on Friday, hoping that the club's newly-depleted frontcourt will be no match against LA bigs Anthony Davis, Jarred Vanderbilt, Rui Hachimura and Wenyen Gabriel -- plus, you know, LeBron James, D'Angelo Russell, Austin Reaves and Malik Beasley.
A loss to the 38-38 Lakers would allow Los Angeles to leapfrog the Timberwolves in the West standings, as the team strives to qualify for the play-in tournament bracket.
