Lakers News: Insider Believes Reeling Warriors Need To Unleash Benched Reserve
Following last night's narrow 104-101 Game 4 victory, your Los Angeles Lakers are sitting pretty in their ongoing second round playoff series against the Golden State Warriors. LA is up 3-1 in the best-of-seven series, and could close things out with a victory tomorrow night.
The club would then get to advance to its second Western Conference Finals appearance during the its four-season Anthony Davis-LeBron James era.
But the Golden State Warriors may not go gently into that good night just yet. This is a proud team after all, the reigning NBA champions. The team has struggled to figure out its precise bench rotation in this playoff series. On Monday, reserve combo guard Jordan Poole saw his role reduced significantly, in favor of second-year swingman Moses Moody.
Dieter Kurtenbach of The Mercury News believes that the Warriors have another card to play: elevating Moody's fellow 2021 Golden State lottery selection, forward Jonathan Kuminga, drafted one pick prior to rising Orlando Magic star forward Franz Wagner (oops).
Kurtenbach opines that Golden State should experiment with having the 6'8", hyper-athletic Kuminga defend LA star Anthony Davis, noting that, outside of a solid Game 2 turn, Draymond Green has struggled in covering the Lakers' star big man.
