The Lakers big man is signed with the team through the 2024-25 NBA season.

Many may remember the dull energy that Los Angeles Lakers big man Anthony Davis exuded just a few weeks ago when his teammate LeBron James made history, becoming the league’s all-time leading scorer. With as exciting as a moment this was, Davis’ body language appeared to reflect the opposite. This caused many to speculate if Davis is happy as a Laker. Could the All-Star be wanting out of LA?

ESPN NBA insider Brian Windhorst addressed those particular questions regarding whether or not AD wants to play in Los Angeles.

“While I admit there might be something amiss there, I don’t think Anthony Davis wants to not be a Laker,” Windhorst told Dan Patrick. “My understanding is he still is 100 percent bought in on that.”

The power forward is signed with the Lakers through the 2024-25 NBA season, but he has an early termination option that could be implemented after the 2023-24 season.

The Lakers acquired Davis in 2019 with the expectation that he could dominate alongside LeBron James, as the star player he is. Davis has had his ups and downs this season as he steadily deals with injuries that hinder his activity, but they did win a title together right out of the gate in 2020.

When healthy, Davis has provided the team with a valuable amount of energy on both ends of the floor. After all, he did help the team win their 2020 championship as well. This season, Davis is averaging 26, 12.3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists while giving the team an average of 2 blocks and 1.2 steals per game.

There are a lot of benefits that come from having Davis on the team, and as long as he is wearing a Lakers jersey, he will be playing with one winning goal in mind.
