If you have paid attention to anything regarding your Los Angeles Lakers this summer, you are familiar with the name Austin Reaves. He has been the star of the offseason for LA, rightfully so.

He earned a new four-year, $53.8 million contract to remain with the Lakers long-term, and he is currently partaking in the 2023 FIBA World Championship as a member of Team USA. Reaves has been all over the place this summer and is gaining some real hype entering the new season.

The guard took a big leap in his game last season, and the Lakers are counting on him to do the same again this year. His skill set is exactly what the team needs, paired alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

But with these new expectations for Reaves, comes more pressure to succeed. He seems like he will be fine handling the pressure, but you never really know until the games begin. Reaves was named by Bleacher Report's Zach Buckley as one of the Lakers with the most pressure on him entering the upcoming season.

“Expectations keep climbing—a summer spent with Team USA further ramped them up—but his challenge isn't simply keeping up with this raising bar. He is, officially, the third option on a championship contender, and the Lakers are ready to increase his on-ball opportunities.”

Per Bleacher Report

If Reaves can continue to improve his game, the Lakers will be extremely tough to beat next season. He will be one of the driving forces for their overall success, and they are counting on him.

The Lakers plan to have Reaves run more of the offense this coming season after seeing the level of success they had while doing so in the postseason.

“That's the new assignment for Reaves, though. The days of finding his niche and proving his worth as an NBA player are over. The Lakers see an All-Star future in front of him, and their championship path will look significantly smoother if he makes them look prescient.”

Per Bleacher Report

The young guard has a very promising future in the NBA. And as long as he is a member of the Lakers, the spotlight will be shining bright on his game.
