Lakers News: Insider Unpacks 3 High-Upside Young LA Players
Every NBA team has some young prospects or players that they are excited about. These players are the future of the franchises so making sure they develop correctly is crucial.
For the Los Angeles Lakers, they are led by LeBron James and Anthony Davis, but they do have some nice, young players as well. It's what should make them one of the favorites to win it all next season.
Bleacher Report ranked the top three most promising young prospects on every NBA team, and the Lakers had some familiar faces on their list.
They listed Austin Reaves, Max Christie and 2023 first-round pick Jalen Hood-Schifino for the Lakers. You can’t argue against these three, as each of them provides value to the future of the team.
Reaves vaulted himself into the Lakers third best player during the postseason, and he will be looking to improve on that this coming season. He earned a brand new four-year contract this offseason so he will have some security on his deal.
“And for all that he's shown already, he clearly hasn't exhausted his potential. His post-All-Star surge neared All-Star territory (17.6 points, 5.5 assists, 57.8/44.3/85.6 shooting), and that production mostly held up in the postseason.”
Per Bleacher Report
Christie took a massive growth in his development during the NBA summer league this year. The second-year player should be part of the Lakers rotation this season, and they are very excited to see what he can do.
“Maybe this is giving too much credence to Christie's strong summer league showing, but it's hard not be excited about the 20-year-old.”

And finally, Hood-Schifino looked solid during the summer league games. He has work to do on his jump shot, but overall the upside is there. The point guard could crack rotation minutes if he continues to grow his game this summer.
"There's always plenty to like in a 6'6" playmaker—but he needs to prove himself as a finisher and three-point shooter to ascend these ranks."
Per Bleacher Report
All in all, LA has some solid talent that can provide them with cornerstones for years. The team has done a great job scouting and drafting of late and it has allowed them to build up the players.
