Three-time Academy Award winner Jack Nicholson, who along with Dyan Cannon has probably been your Los Angeles Lakers' most consistently visible court side fan for decades, chose a heck of a game to make his first reappearance on the hardwood since opening night of LA's ill-fated October 2021 season.

The star of "The Shining," "The Departed," "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" and the 1989 "Batman" (among many, many other titles) received a fervent reception from the Crypto.com Arena faithful on Friday night, in what wound up being a 125-85 blowout over the Memphis Grizzlies.

The victory sent LA back to the second round of the playoffs for the first time since 2020. And we all know how that season ended.

Ahead of the game, All-Star Lakers small forward LeBron James made a point to say hello and the two shared a warm hug:

An ESPN story on the retired superstar's return to the floor noted that the 86-year-old Nicholson, a New Jersey native (although he was already living in LA when the Nets were founded in 1967), has been a season ticket holder since 1970, during the Jerry West/Elgin Baylor/Wilt Chamerblain era.

Nicholson was also a noble competitor, sharing some face time with Grizzlies All-Star point guard Ja Morant's father Tee at one point:

Welcome back, Jack. Please grace us with your presence again at some point in the second round.
