Lakers News: JaMychal Green Made The Most Of His Game 2 Start Against LA
When it became apparent that nominal starting Golden State Warriors center Kevon Looney would be unable to play more than 20 minutes in Thursday's Game 2 against your Los Angeles Lakers, Warriors leaders Stephen Curry and Draymond Green stumped for reserve forward JaMychal Green to draw a start, Draymond Green revealed on his podcast "The Draymond Green Show" recently:
"We had a conversation with coach, coach asked me and Steph what do we think as far as who's starting, we were both like, 'Yeah, J-Mike for sure,' " Draymond Green opined. "J-Mike gonna bring some toughness, he obviously can space the floor, he played the last game so he kind of got the feel of the series already. J-Mike for sure."
"We needed J-Mike, he brought the physicality from the gate, which we needed to meet force with force in starting this game -- he brought a physicality and he knocked shots down," Green continued. "And we all know how capable he is in shooting the basketball -- he was huge tonight -- we're going to continue to need him as this series goes on.'
JaMychal Green, meanwhile, did what he could to capitalize on the starting opportunity, writes Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area. In 12:32, he scored 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting (3-of-6 from deep), dished out two assists and grabbed one rebound while helping the Warriors secure an epic 127-100 blowout win.
“It feels good to be able to do this after the year I had,” JaMychal Green reflected. “It's been a rough one.
“They always tell me to stay ready,” Green revealed. “They said this before, that my time will come. The first series, even though I was kind of struggling a little. But we had a team meeting and Steph. He said some powerful words and it kind of got me locked in and I let go of everything and just all about the team.”
