Lakers News: Kyrie Irving Reacts to Austin Reaves' Elite Ball-Handling
Austin Reaves continues to entertain the basketball world this summer as he suits up for Team USA in the 2023 FIBA World Cup and has already found comfort in a productive role off the bench. In Team USA's most recent win over Team Slovenia, the 25-year-old guard was able to serve as a spark off the bench and immediately pushed the pace for some easy fast break buckets.
If the basketball world didn't take note of Reaves' gritty and winning play style during the 2023 playoffs, they certainly are doing so in real time as he represents his country. Anthony Edwards and Jalen Brunson have been leading the way for the team in the starting lineup but once Reaves checks in, the crowd always gets loud and he makes his presence felt right away.
Dallas Mavericks superstar Kyrie Irving recently hopped on a live stream and reacted to Team USA's recent games and when it came a certain possession where Reaves made a crafty move but could not finish, Irving had quite the reaction to his play.
"Tell Austin to stop working out with my trainer," said Irving jokingly. "Somebody tell Austin Reaves to stay out of Coach Handy's coaching clinic. That's tough, hey, that's an and-one."(Via The Hoop Central)
Irving is undoubtedly one of the most skilled and talented players to ever come through the NBA and even though he didn't wind up with the purple and gold, he still shows love to a number of young players from all teams.
Reaves will be on the rise over the next couple of seasons and the NBA world will be able to see if he takes the next step... it's safe to say he has the Kyrie Irving co-sign for now.
