Lakers News: LA Champ Reflects On How Perception Of Players Has Changed Over Decades
Longtime Los Angeles Lakers combo forward A.C. Green earned his "Iron Man" nickname by benefit of playing through two unique championship eras of LA basketball: the Showtime Lakers and the Shaqobe Lakers.
The 6'9" vet out of Oregon State missed the "Lake Show" era wherein Nick Van Exel and Eddie Jones led the club, but returned in time for the first title of the Shaqobe Lakers in the 1999-2000 season.
Green spoke with Brandon "Scoop B" Robinson for his Scoop B Selects series on YouTube Selects about a variety of topics, including how players have evolved their entrepreneurial pursuits beyond the hardwood.
"We were just playing ball, you know?" Green said. "And not thinking about what happens once you get off the practice floor or you get out of that game and understanding that you are a brand; you have a brand and you have an identity as well as a personality... especially in today's world with social media where you are connected with the world in a matter of a split second was obviously unheard of back then when we were playing."
