Lakers News: LA Media Day Photo Suggests Team Knows It Has A New Big 3

The team knows what they are doing!
In this story:

When the Los Angeles Lakers re-signed shooting guard Austin Reaves this summer, it was met with praise from just about everyone. Reaves really stepped up his game last season, and it helped him earn a brand-new contract for LA this summer.

He put himself into a position where he is the third-best player on the Lakers, and now will have bigger expectations on his shoulders. At the Lakers's 2023 Media Day festivities Monday, the team made sure to put Reaves next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis in a photo, to signal that they had a new big three.

LA has been searching for a big three since James and Davis teamed up, and now they may have it. It didn't come in the way that anyone expected, but Reaves is a very serviceable third option for a team.

He learned how to run the offense last season, and it helped unlock some things within the LA offensive schemes. The Lakers saw real potential with Reaves having the ball in his hands during the playoffs, and they want to continue that success.

Reaves got more experience doing so during his time with Team USA this summer, so he should be ready from day one this year. He learned a lot during his time with Team USA and can take those lessons to help the Lakers.

If Reaves can take that next leap in his game this year, then the Lakers will be even harder to stop. He is one of the more important pieces to the team this season, and it's going to be fun to watch him all year long.
