Lakers News: LA Starters Confident Against Top-Seeded Nuggets
Your Los Angeles Lakers are primed to square off against the Western Conference's top-seeded Denver Nuggets tomorrow in a rematch of 2020's Western Conference Finals, which Los Angeles won in five games. As Jovan Buha of The Athletic reports, LA's starters seem ready for the challenge.
Center Anthony Davis isn't just happy to have made it this far. He wants to go all the way, even against a team that has looked like the class of the conference all year.
“Our expectations inside are way higher than showing up to the Western Conference Finals,” Davis said.
Starting shooting guard Austin Reaves also seemed fairly confident, regardless of the reality that LA entered the postseason as the West's seventh seed (and needed overtime in a play-in game to remain the seventh seed).
“I think the seeding thing is, it’s just a number,” Reaves said. “When you have guys like [All-NBA small forward LeBron James], AD, that’s won championships … [You] always feel like you have a chance, especially with the roster that we have and the talent that we have.”
