Lakers News: LA To Face Grizzlies Without Ja Morant Due to Suspension

Finally, a lucky schedule break!

Memphis Grizzlies All-Star point guard Ja Morant has had a very bizarre 2022-23 season.

He's handily the best player on one of the best teams in the entire Western Conference. The club was looking so good that at one point Morant even declared that he was "good in the West," meaning he didn't think any other team in the conference could handle him.

Now, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that Morant will be suspended by the Grizzlies for at least the next two games, after the point guard appeared to livestream footage via his Instagram of him showing off a gun while at a strip club:

Per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the NBA is investigating this incident. It's not the first time Morant has been embroiled in off-court controversy this season. Or the second. Or the third.

The two-time All-Star has been enjoying a terrific run for the 38-24 Grizz on the court, but he clearly has been having a troubled go of it away from the hardwood. He's averaging 27.1 points on .463/.316/.744 shooting splits, 8.2 assists, 6.0 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game.

Morant isn't the only big rotation player for Memphis who will be out of the Grizzlies' rotation on Tuesday, when the club squares off against your Los Angeles Lakers.

Woj reveals that reserve power forward/center Brandon Clarke tore his left Achilles tendon and will miss the rest of the 2022-23 regular season and playoffs. This season, Clarke is averaging 10 points on 65.6% field goal shooting, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per night.
