Lakers News: LA Waives Training Camp Invitee, Opening Roster Spot
With the start of training camp just weeks away, your Los Angeles Lakers are still making marginal moves around the periphery of their roster.
Per LA's official Twitter/X account, the franchise is cutting shooting guard Bryce Hamilton, who had only just recently inked an Exhibit 10 training camp contract with the team.
Upon being undrafted out of the University of Nevada Las Vegas, the 22-year-old had spent the entire 2022-23 season with LA's NBA G League affiliate in El Segundo, the South Bay Lakers.
The 6'4" Pasadena native posted averages of 14.1 points on .514/.385/.679 shooting splits and 4.6 boards in 29 regular season contests, starting 27 of them with South Bay last season. He agreed to the Exhibit 10 deal following an eventful Summer League run with Los Angeles.
Given that the Lakers are reportedly keeping one standard roster spot open heading into the season, and have all three of their two-way slots occupied, this always seemed like the likeliest outcome for Hamilton, and is most likely the fate of the other three players who inked training camp agreements with the team this month: forward Vincent Valerio-Bodon plus guards Scotty Pippen Jr. and Damion Baugh.
Assuming Hamilton signs on with South Bay as an affiliate player and sticks with the club for at least 60 days, he'll be eligible for a signing bonus worth up to $75,000.
