Lakers Have Only Brought One Prospect (So Far) In For Two LA Pre-Draft Workouts

Could he have a future with the Purple and Gold?

University of Florida small forward Alex Fudge may not have submitted eye-popping numbers during either his tenure as a Gator nor during his first college season, with the Louisiana Statue University Tigers in 2021-22, but he's clearly shown at least one organization some promise: your Los Angeles Lakers.

Fudge first worked out for the Lakers last Wednesday during a pre-draft audition, and more recently auditioned a second time for LA, this past Monday.

During his LSU tenure, the 6'8" combo forward averaged just 3.3 points on 42.4% shooting from the floor, 3.2 rebounds, 0.8 steals and 0.6 blocks across just 13.9 minutes per.

After transferring to Florida, Fudge averaged 5.8 points on 39.7% shooting from the field, 4.5 boards, and 0.8 blocks a night in 19.3 minutes.

These are modest stats, but he's clearly shown enough to emerge as a possible candidate for LA, which evidently compelled him to declare for the draft this year. Per NBA Scouting Live, Fudge is considered a potential second round draft selection. His jump shooting leaves a lot to be desired at present, but his athletic upside and appetizing transitional ability make him a tenable prospect.

The 20-year-old has a seven-foot wingspan, and his versatility at either forward spot, especially on defense, must have made quite an impression on the Lakers' brain trust, who has yet to invite anybody else back for a second workout.

LA has the 47th pick at its disposal in the second round, although if it could also opt to use one of its two-way slots on Fudge if he falls out of this Thursday's NBA draft.
