Lakers 'Kryptonite' Exposed Once Against Following Another Bad Loss

Los Angeles just couldn't get out of their own way.

In the last game for the Los Angeles Lakers, old habits seemed to kick in once again. The team was hit by an assault of three-point shots, which seemed to close any chance of them winning the game.

Losing to the Sacramento Kings for the second time in a week was a tough pill to swallow for this Lakers squad, especially considering the Kings were right in front of them in the standings. It was another case of the inconsistency that the Lakers have shown all year long and every game going forward is magnified.

Los Angeles couldn't get out of their own way against the Kings. It exposed the problems that the Lakers have had all year, and they couldn't do anything to stop it.

“Kryptonite,” one player said on the way out of the locker room. And the Lakers have to wonder if it’s just the Kings or symptoms of larger, unfixable problems."

Per Dan Woike of The Los Angeles Times

The Lakers were swept by the Kings in their four-game season series, showing the trouble they've had with Sacramento. Much like their issues against the Denver Nuggets, the Kings force the Lakers to try to be a team that they aren't.

"There was familiarity in the result Wednesday, another team spreading the Lakers wide, another team hitting a barrage of open threes and feasting on the glass, another team forcing the Lakers to play consistently at a level that they were unable to reach."

Per Dan Woike of The Los Angeles Times

This has been a common problem all year long and one that they hope doesn't rear its head come playoff time. The best chance for the Lakers is to hope they avoid the Kings or Denver in the playoffs, otherwise, their year could come to an end very fast.
