Lakers Land Free Agency Meeting with Defensive Specialist Dillon Brooks

Could LA pull the trigger on this?
In this story:

Fans of the Los Angeles Lakers need no introduction to Dillon Brooks as he made sure to make it a personal challenge to try and break the mind of LeBron James during LA's first round playoff matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies. It all started when he said that he was hoping to see the Lakers in the postseason and continued by stating that James would not garner his respect until he dropped 40 because he's 'old.'

Brooks definitely did not perform up to expectations as in six games against LA in the first round and he averaged just 10 points, three rebounds and less than two assists while shooting 23% from deep. He also got ejected in game three when he hit The King below the belt.

Well it looks like these disputes may be coming full circle in the 2023 offseason as LA will reportedly be meeting with Brooks on the first day of free agency.

.After the antics that Brooks pulled in the first round and seeing how Memphis, who were the number two seed in the West, lost to the seven seed Lakers, reports began filing out that Memphis would not be interested in bringing him back.

Brooks is still just 27-years-old and he brings a lot of value on the defensive side of the floor. Outside of the Lakers, he has also been drawing interest from the Houston Rockets who have the most cap space heading into free agency.

His beast season came in 2021-2022 when the Grizzlies made it to the Western Conference Finals and Brooks averaged 18 points but was limited to just 32 games due to injury.

The Lakers have meetings planned with a number of other top options such as Kyrie Irving so nothing is guaranteed on Brooks' end. We'll keep you updated as we know more!
