Lakers News: All Kobe Bryant Celebrations to Look Forward to On Mamba Day
Just one day after the basketball community came together to celebrate the 45th birthday of the late, great Kobe Bryant, special times roll around once again thanks to Mamba Day. The date reads 8/24/23 and that means that particularly in the city of Los Angeles, plenty of events are being held in honor of the Black Mamba.
Above all else, Vanessa Bryant kicked off the morning by announcing on Instagram that Bryant would finally be getting his statue outside of Crypto.com Arena on February 8, 2024.
It's great to hear the official news from Vanessa herself seeing that reports of the statue have been coming out for the last month and ever since Bryant played his final game in the purple and gold, fans have patiently been waiting for him to join the statue family outside of the arena.
But let's take a look at other events going on today that will show love to the Lakers legend!
A Special Santa Monica Pier Ferris Wheel
The weather in Los Angeles is definitely much better than it was a few days ago so certain residents may look to spend their Thursday at the Santa Monica Pier.
It also just so happens that the iconic ferris wheel at the Pier will be lit up in purple and showcase multiple Lakers designs today to honor Bryant.

Shoes, Shoes & More Shoes
Some lucky fans were able to get their hands on the Kobe 8 Protro 'Halo' sneakers that were released on August 23 but Nike decided to follow up with even more signature Kobe shoe releases on Mamba Day.
They held a shock drop early in the morning on the SNKRS app and even if you did not cash in on the drop the first time around... do not be surprised if Nike comes back a second time around today.

Westfield Public Celebration & Giveaways
For those who live close to Westfield Culver City, a celebration will be held from 3pm-6pm to celebrate the legacy of Bryant and many activities are planned for the three-hour span.
There will be live music performers, free food from neighboring chains, opportunities to get coupons from nearby stores and a Mitchell & Ness throwback Kobe Bryant jersey will even be given away!
