In this story:

There have been some great duos across NBA history. It's made for amazing basketball and has created dynasties. Basketball fans have been lucky, and we've even seen some strong duos come together recently.

Milwaukee Bucks assistant coach Vin Baker gave some thoughts on his team's All-Star duo of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard. He compared them to Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal as a duo, something many have tried to replicate, but with no luck.

Baker spoke with Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson during the launch of his Bouncing Back Foundation.

“So I see a Shaq and Kobe dynamic, from a talent standpoint. We have TWO NBA Top 75 players on our roster and we also have Khris Middleton, Bobby Portis, Brook Lopez, Pat Connaughton… we also have a bunch of great players but with Dame and Giannis; and not even with their greatness as players, the thing that I’m most fascinated by daily is being around them is their humility. Like, you couldn’t have picked two more perfect people to go together -- not players, but perfect people. They’re both humble, they both want to win a championship and they both have extreme talent. So, we’re blessed and fortunate to have them in Milwaukee. Dame as you heard all the rumors in the summertime Miami and all the other places that he could’ve gone and he could’ve gone anywhere, but we’re fortunate to have considered one of the greatest point guards to ever play the game.

Luckily Baker just mentioned a similar dynamic between the two players, and not actually comparing the duos. The success Bryant and O'Neal had together was incredible and isn't easily duplicated.

Winning three straight titles together makes them one of the best duos in NBA history. Antetokounmpo and Lillard have just started working together, so the story of them is still being written.

Maybe they win multiple titles together, but nobody knows that yet. They are two great players, but to be in the same category as Bryant and O'Neal, they will need sustained success.
