During their crucial game against the Golden State Warriors last weekend, Los Angeles Lakers superstar Anthony Davis was struck in the face early on. He was forced to exit the game due to a swollen eye and didn't return.

Los Angeles ended up dropping the game to the Warriors, but thankfully, Davis was okay. He returned to the court against the Atlanta Hawks earlier this week, but he didn't have any protective eyewear on.

It's been reported that Davis decided not to wear any protection over his eyes, despite the potential risks of doing so. He spoke with a few doctors before the game against Atlanta, ultimately making his choice.

"Anthony Davis, the other captain, who returned after missing the final three quarters of Saturday’s 128-121 loss to the Golden State Warriors with a left corneal abrasion, had 22 points, 15 rebounds and six assists in a team-high 31 minutes. He played without any protection on his eyes, a decision he made after consulting with several doctors over the weekend"

Davis opened up about the decision, saying that he wore prescription eyewear early in his career and that he didn't want to do it again.

“I’ve been through that phase in high school,” said Davis, who wore prescription glasses and goggles while growing up before he got corrective eye surgery in 2019. “I’m out of that phase.”

Luckily, it seems that Davis is okay, but this could have gone much worse. It will be something to watch for the rest of the way, but we have to just hope that he doesn't get hit in the face again.
