Basketball fans have been very lucky this offseason as they didn't have to wait too long after 2k24 summer league came to an end to see NBA and international talent back on the floor again thanks to the 2023 FIBA World Cup. It's a very special time for the game of hoops as a number of stars hope to bring home the gold for their respective countries.

And Team USA is off to a hot start as they have yet to lose any of their early exhibition matches and we most recently got a classic comeback in their Sunday victory as they were down 16 points to Germany at one point and managed to prevail.

Minnesota Timberwolves' star Anthony Edwards took over down the stretch with 34 points and is clearly becoming the number-one option on the team. However, Los Angeles Lakers own Austin Reaves has become an excellent piece off the bench for Steve Kerr as he was able to drop 16 points in limited minutes and continues to prove that he is a winning player.

The basketball community was not too sure if this Team USA squad was put together well at first but I think everybody is starting to see how this younger crop of talent is growing right before our eyes. Reaves in particular is getting the chance to associate himself with other players in the league who have/have had immense expectations on their shoulders and watch how they handle themselves in crunch time.

ESPN's own Brian Windhorst also has made it clear that the 25-year-old guard made his presence felt leading into the exhibition games.

"A player that I had several people say has really impressed them and been, like, much better than they were expecting has been Austin Reaves," ESPN's

said on his

Hoop Collective

podcast (33:30 mark).

Team USA has their first official World Cup outing against New Zealand on August 26... let's see how Reaves continues to shine!
