LeBron James has been the face of the NBA for over two decades, which is a little insane to think about. He has seen it all during that time period, and somehow he is still going strong.

James is unlike any player that we've ever seen before, and the Los Angeles Lakers are lucky to have him on their roster. However, his future beyond 2023-24 appears a bit murky.

After hinting at retirement last season, we are in the final years of his playing career. Nobody knows how much longer he will take the court, so all we can do is appreciate him while he is still playing.

Long-time ESPN NBA insider Brian Windhorst gave some insight into the future of James. He has a $51 million player option in his contract next season with the Lakers, but Windhost isn't sure he will be suiting up for the Lakers in 2025.

“I don’t know what’s gonna happen with LeBron in 2025. I feel like LeBron is gonna play next year, but I don’t know if it’s gonna be for the Lakers”

If James were to leave the Lakers, it would be in search of him chasing another ring. Los Angeles has done what they can to put him into a good spot to be competitive, but the team hasn't lived up to the hype.

James wants to end his career on his terms, so he will do what is best for his family as well. It will also be difficult to turn down a $51 million contract from the Lakers, but James also makes a lot of money off the court.

These last few months of the season could be his last in a Lakers uniform, so hopefully, the team can turn things around. He and Anthony Davis deserve another playoff run together, and there is still plenty of time to make it happen.
