Lakers News: Cam Reddish Credits Support Of New Teammates With Breakout Start
Your Los Angeles Lakers improved to a 5-5 record after their much-needed win over the Portland Trail Blazers to stay undefeated at home. Lakers superstar Anthony Davis led the way in scoring without his partner in crime, LeBron James, for this one.
James missed Sunday's contest due to a left calf contusion, and Davis stepped up in his place. However, this wasn't solely on Davis; many other Lakers stepped up without James, including first-year Laker forward Cam Reddish.
For the second straight game, Reddish's offense came in clutch for the purple and gold, posting 18 points in Sunday's victory. This is the second time in the early season where Reddish has scored 15+. After the game, Cam spoke to the media and talked about how much this Laker team means to him and the effect it's had on his career this early into the season and his career.
"I feel like all my teammates have done a great job of just pouring into me and telling me how much they believe in me. I haven't had an atmosphere like this in my entire NBA career."

Although Cam is only in his fifth season, this is already his fourth team. The 24-year-old was a lottery pick in the 2019 NBA draft, and after stints in the Atlanta Hawks (where he was drafted), the New York Knicks, and the Portland Trail Blazers, it seemed like all was lost. However, the Lakers saw something in the youngster and took a chance on him this offseason.
A comment like that could go a long way for the former Duke Blue Devil. Not only does it express the confidence LA has for him, but also what type of teammate and leader LeBron is. To not only say you have confidence in him but to show it on the court goes a long way for a young player still trying to figure it out.
If Reddish can continue this stellar play, the Lakers will be the championship team we all had hoped for before the season started.
