Lakers News: Cam Reddish Reflects On Excellent 2-Way Turn Against Former Team
The Los Angeles Lakers earned their seventh win of the season and their second road victory after defeating the Portland Trail Blazers, 107-95. The Lakers had a bit of a scare in the third quarter, but their defense turned things around after Portland’s run, and LA didn’t look back.
The Purple and Gold held the Blazers to 40% shooting, 27% from three and 19 turnovers. The defense showed up when needed to, especially first-year Lakers shooting guard Cam Reddish.
Reddish has been a revelation for the Laker defense from guarding the best player and creating blocks, steals and charges. He's been doing it all for the Lakers, and Friday was no different against his former team.
Reddish reflected on his defensive prowess after the win.
“Man, I’m just trying to win,” Reddish said. “I feel like winning will bring good energy. So I bring my energy defensively. Obviously, it’s not like what I’m accustomed when I was growing up and stuff, but it’s the league. You just got to make the most out of every opportunity. And I feel like I’m doing a decent job of that and I’m going to continue to get better as the season goes on.”
per Dan Woike of The Los Angeles Times)
Reddish started his Laker career a bit shaky, but ever since entering the starting lineup, he's been excellent for the purple and gold. Last night alone, he had three steals, one block and notched eight points on 50% shooting from three.
The former Blue Devil spent half of last season with the Blazers, starting in 20 12 games and playing in 20. He showed the Blazers what they were missing, putting on a defensive clinic.
Cam has been doing all the dirty work for Los Angeles, and we hope this is only the beginning for the 24-year-old swingman.
