Lakers News: Can Austin Reaves' Team USA Defeat A Loaded Team Canada In FIBA World Cup?

This will be quite the matchup!
In this story:

Even though your Los Angeles Lakers just wrapped up their 2023 Summer League play with a big win over the Clippers and we won't be able to see the main group play until preseason games in early October, we at least have matches to look forward to in which Austin Reaves will be suiting up for Team USA.

With the 2023 FIBA World Cup set to take place next month, the roster builders took a different approach this time around. Majority of the team is headlined by some of the youngest and rising stars around the NBA at every position but especially with guards. Besides Reaves, Anthony Edwards, Jalen Brunson, Mikel Bridges, Brandon Ingram, Jaren Jackson Jr., Tyrese Haliburton and more will be wearing red, white and blue as they take on a number of international groups.

However, Team USA will certainly run into some challenges down the road and even though I'm confident that they'll know exactly who should be taking on the scoring loads and they'll figure out what everybody's role should be, there is a certain team that has an elite roster as well and could be the squad that gives America a run for their money.

Some final additions were just announced for Team Canada and now they will also have some of the NBA's biggest names on their side such as Jamal Murray, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, RJ Barrett, Dillon Brooks and more. Much like Team USA, Canada has ensured that they have plenty of options in their backcourt and will be able to throw different defenders at opposing squads while running an assortment of plays on offense.

We have yet to see exactly what type of role Reaves will be playing with this new squad next month but after watching him these past two seasons with the Lakers, it's clear that he can fit with any group he joins on the floor. Former Lakers Brandon Ingram and Josh Hart will always get some nice minutes so keep an eye out to see how they perform!
