Lakers News: Clippers Make Major Changes To Starting Lineup
As the LA Clippers are set to be without both Paul George and Ivica Zubac, head coach Tyronn Lue is set to make two major adjustments to the starting lineup.
In place of George, fifth-year wing out of Minnesota Amir Coffey will draw the start, which we've seen a few times this season. Coffey is hitting 42.5% of his 3-pointers this season while being a competent wing defender.
George missed the team's loss to Sacramento a couple of nights ago, and Norman Powell drew the start in his place, putting up 21 points on an absurd 5-9 from 3-point range. To that end, the decision to proceed with Coffey is surprising, but expect a heavy dose of Powell off the bench, as usual.
In place of Zubac, Daniel Theis will draw the start. This is fairly surprising, as Theis is just 6-foot-8 and lacks the size to compete down low with Anthony Davis, contrary to fellow center Mason Plumlee. That being said, Theis is a much more well-rounded offensive player who can, to a degree, space the floor. Plumlee, meanwhile, produces most of his offense off putbacks and lobs, of course, as he has no jumper. It's been working out fairly well, as he's connecting on 64.4% of his field goal attempts to this point in the season.
