Lakers News: Contract Details Revealed For Spencer Dinwiddie
Just a few days after the Los Angeles Lakers decided to stand pat at the trade deadline, they added in guard Spencer Dinwiddie to the mix on the buyout market. He was identified as their number one target, and Los Angeles made quick work to land him.
The team will pay him $1.5 million for the rest of the season, using the rest of their non-taxpayer mid-level exception to do so. The Lakers were able to offer him slightly more than other teams due to them not using the full amount on guard Gabe Vincent when they signed him this summer.
In 48 games with the Brooklyn Nets, Dinwiddie averaged 12.6 points, 3.3 rebounds and six assists per game. He has shot 39.1% from the field and 32% from beyond the three-point line on the season.
Dinwiddie should help the Lakers offensive attack, giving them another ball-handling guard to work with. He can help create different looks for the shooters on the floor, and he has the ability to create his own shot as well.
Dinwiddie is expected to make his Lakers debut on Tuesday evening against the Detroit Pistons. He should provide more depth for this injured team and give them another guard to use in rotations.
