Lakers News: D'Angelo Russell Ditches Press Yet Again Despite Second Straight W
Your Los Angeles Lakers may have found something, ladies and gentlemen. It hasn't been pretty, but the Purple and Gold are riding high (sort of) on a two-game winning streak after their Tuesday win over the Toronto Raptors.
The Lakers star players did their thing. Anthony Davis dropped a season-high 41 points, 11 rebounds, and one block, while their other superstar, LeBron James, dropped 22, along with 12 assists and five boards.
All seemed fine and dandy as they picked up another win, but that didn't seem to be the case with their veteran point guard, D'Angelo Russell.
According to Laker insider Jovan Buha, Russell declined to speak with the media again after the win.
After playing 31 minutes against the Clippers on Sunday, Russell only played 17 minutes and put up 11 points on 4/8 shooting, four rebounds, and five assists while being a +7 in the plus/minus category. I understand Russell's frustration; when you have guys on the team who haven't earned a ton of playing time getting more than you, it sucks.
Although Russell is the fourth leading scorer on the team, the lows as a member in LA seem to overshadow the highs. Before the start of the season, Russell was already on the trading block. That has only intensified throughout the season, no matter how well he's played. With the trade deadline approaching, many believe his days in LA are numbered again.
This could be a sign of things to come, and it seems inevitable at this point. The fan base and team know it, and it looks like Russell does, too. LA will make a trade within a month, and we'll find out soon enough if it's Russell who will be on the move.
