Lakers News: Darvin Ham Admits LA Has Run Out Of Excuses After Nets Loss

What happened last night?

That was a tough one to swallow last night, Los Angeles Lakers fans. The Purple and Gold came out with the right energy in the first half, but they came out as flat as the top of a table in the second half, falling 130-112 to the middling Brooklyn Nets at home

After leading by six points in halftime but giving up 62 points in the first 24 minutes, Los Angeles didn't do any better in the next 24 minutes. The Lakers allowed 68 points, and the team only scored 44 points, 22 in the third and 22 in the fourth.

Just when you thought things were starting to turn around, this team came out with arguably their worst performance of the season.

Los Angeles Lakers head coach Darvin Ham had enough after the game and told it like it is.

“It’s over for the excuses, man. We got to play basketball.”

The Nets came to play and were red hot in the second half, and the Lakers were the exact opposite. The duo of Anthony Davis and LeBron James combined for 50 points and 22 rebounds, but the others outside of D'Angelo Russell failed to score more than 12 points.

The Lakers allowed the Nets to shoot over 52% and 40% from the three-point line. Seven Brooklyn players scored in double digits, including Cam Thomas' 33 points and former Laker Lonnie Walker IV with 15 points, both off the bench.

There were no excuses to give in the first play. James and Davis have bene available for most of the season. Some of their key rotational players have missed, but they've been available as of late. Ham is the only one who's been giving excuses. The players consistently hold themselves and each other accountable; it seems like Ham is the only one giving excuses.

This Laker team has been far disappointing and frustrating to watch. They need a change, and I'm not talking about a trade.
