Lakers News: Darvin Ham Downplays LA's Recent Skid
There's "coachspeak," and then there's what Darvin Ham just said after LA's Christmas Day loss to the Boston Celtics (per Helene Elliott of the LA Times):
“I’m not distraught or not seeing it for what it is. It’s the NBA season. You’re going to go through your ebbs and flows,” he said. “You’ve got teams that have been together and are going to be clicking, and you’ve got some teams that are struggling, especially coming into the second and third quarters of an 82-game season.
“The dog days are going to set in pretty quickly after these holidays are over with, and the biggest thing is to see where we can get better at day in and day out and get the opportunity to be not just stronger but more consistent night in and night out.”
I'm not sure if there's a real way to interpret what Ham is even saying here, outside of that he's suggesting LA just "gets better," and we won't really be able to do that until "these holidays are over with."
Coming off of 6 losses in their last 8 games, the Lakers look abhorrent heading into a tough stretch where they'll square off against the Timberwolves, Pelicans, Heat, Grizzlies, and Clippers all in the next couple of weeks.
There's a lot that needs to be changed as it pertains to rotations, the starting lineup, and roles offensively, on top of an acquisition likely being made given the amount of buzz and clear need surrounding one.
