In this story:

A tough loss to the Kings marks the first time the Lakers have been swept in the season series by Sacramento since the 2015-2016 season.

Each matchup has been a game of runs, all while L.A. has found ways to stay in it for nearly the entirety of each game. They then collapse at some point or another.

It's surprising, specifically given Sacramento's weaknesses as a team: they struggle to protect the rim, don't have great point-of-attack defenders, and are susceptible to cold streaks shooting the ball, which allows teams to get back into games/for them to just be blown out altogether.

The Lakers, on the other hand, have an elite big man in Anthony Davis along with several scorers ranging from good to great who should be able to exploit mismatches all game long.

While you can point to the effort, players having bad games, and more for LA's losses, it appears that head coach Darvin Ham, who should be the one ensuring the team capitalizes on these mismatches, does not know what to do:

This is one of the most bizarre comments I've ever seen a coach make, as not only is it completely unprompted, accomplishes nothing, and doesn't explain what happened during the game or how L.A. plans to move past their terrible performance. But it makes Ham look grossly incompetent at every level.

It's his job to figure out what they're running based on the film, in-game tendencies, situation, and personnel. His comment, however lighthearted he intended for it to be, makes him look beyond incapable of performing basic duties on the job, killing any remaining confidence from Lakers fans.
