With the way that your 2023-24 Los Angeles Lakers have been underperforming of late, there have been plenty of rumors swirling around about the status of head coach Darvin Ham. Ham took this team to the Western Conference Finals last season, but this is a "what have you done for me lately" type of league.

L.A. has really struggled over the last month, leading to questions about his job status. If the team were to make any changes, they would likely want to replace him with a more experienced coach.

One name that comes to mind is former Philadelphia 76ers head coach Doc Rivers. Rivers has been out of the league this season but may want to still be on the sidelines.

While it's unlikely Ham gets fired, Rivers took the time to praise Lakers star big man Anthony Davis. This further throws a little fuel onto the fire about a potential replacement if Ham were to leave.

Rivers has been in the NBA for a long time now, and he understands just how special Davis is. Teams' have to scheme against the defensive ability of Davis, while also making sure that he doesn't have a major night on the offensive end as well.

He is one of the most talented players that the league has to offer, and it has been showing on a nightly basis. For the year, Davis is averaging over 25 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and two per game across 36 contests.

While some criticisms of Davis are fair, he often gets blamed too much for things. He has been the best player for the Lakers this season, and it's been great to see.

Davis has been playing lights out this season, helping to keep the Lakers somewhat competitive in the standings. It's not his fault that the team has been struggling of late, and he has done whatever he can to help alleviate it.
