Lakers News: Expert Believes Russell Westbrook Joining Clippers Will Be Terrible Fit
After a week and a half after getting traded from the Los Angeles Lakers, Russell Westbrook will stay in Los Angeles.
The nine-time NBA All-Star plans to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers, first reported by ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski.
Westbrook will join one of the best duos in the league, Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, as they try to make a deep run in the playoffs.
NBA insider Kevin O’Connor is not a fan of the signing, though, and he made that clear via his Instagram on Monday.
Tell us how you really feel, O'Connor. However, the concerns are valid.
The Laker trio of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook was not a good fit from day one, and O’Connor believes that the new Clippers trio will not be a good fit either.
The Lakers trio was a disaster, and the Clippers will try to be the opposite of what the purple and gold were with Westbrook on the roster.
Clippers All-Star forward Paul George was very vocal about wanting the Clippers to sign Westbrook if the Jazz bought him out.
Westbrook and George were teammates for two seasons from 2017-2019 as a part of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Clippers head coach Ty Lue and President of Basketball Operations Lawrence Frank were in constant communication with the former MVP and talked about how he could fit and what he could bring to the team.
The Lakers traded Westbrook, and their protected 2027 first-round pick to the Utah Jazz as a part of a three-team trade the day before the NBA trade deadline.
The two-time scoring champion is now the Clippers' problem, and we’ll see how he fits with the current No. 4 seed in the Western Conference.
