In this story:

If one thing about the Los Angeles Lakers is clear, they are all-in on winning heading into the 2023-2024 season and they want to make sure that they have as many options on their roster as possible. Over the past couple of years, we have watched as GM Rob Pelinka and the rest of the front office have subjected themselves to going after older veterans and role players past their prime.

However, things are different this time around and after already finishing this year with some young, versatile additions thanks to the trade deadline, promising pieces were once again signed during free agency such as Jaxson Hayes, Gabe Vincent, Cam Reddish and more.

Obviously, teams like the Milwaukee Bucks, Denver Nuggets and Phoenix Suns all are coming in hot with a championship on their minds as well but I think LA takes comfort in feeling confident in their group heading into training camp. We are likely going to see some interesting position battles go down and determine what the starting lineup will look but with the season being 82 games long, head coach Darvin Ham will be ablest give different guys a number of opportunities.

Last year at this time, Bleacher Report's Andy Bailey predicted that the purple and gold would win 44 games in the 2022-2023 season... he just nearly overshot as they finished the year with 43 wins. This included a horrific start and a fit with Russell Westbrook that just became impossible to work with by the middle of the year.

However, with a roster overhaul and health seemingly on LA's side right now, Bailey has returned with his win predictions for the 2023-2024 season and he envisions 48 for the City of Angels.

"Of course, getting past the defending champions, who swept the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals, might take a little more than staying the course.Russell signed a very tradeable contract this summer, so some kind of move there could put them over the top. A leap from a young player like Max Christie could be another avenue. Maybe there's another gear for Reaves.Whatever it is, L.A. needs just a bit more of a punch to go from contender back to the championship stage."

If these guys can bring that same energy and chemistry they finished last season off with, expect this prediction to hold up and potentially to go even higher.
