Lakers News: Fans React To LeBron James Scoring 40,000th Point
LeBron James made history again on Saturday, becoming the first player in NBA history to score 40,000 career points. In the Los Angeles Lakers 124-114 loss to the Denver Nuggets, James hit the shot that would push him past the 40,000-point mark in the second quarter.
As James hit that historic point, the home crowd erupted in celebration. During the commercial break, the Crypto.com Arena celebrated the historic moment of James with a tribute. Many fans not in attendance for the game took to social media to share their reactions.
James previously became the NBA's all-time leading scorer over a year ago, when he surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's longtime record of 38,387 points. Now, James has taken his record further by hitting the 40,000-point mark.
James now has 40,017 points throughout his legendary career. While it's disappointing the Lakers weren't able to combine the moment with a win, it doesn't take anything away from what James has accomplished in one of the greatest NBA careers of all time.
