The Los Angeles Lakers brought back most of the core that helped see the team make a run to the Western Conference Finals last season. However, it’s not realistic that every single player would be back with the team.

The main one that was left out was veteran point guard Dennis Schroder, who signed a contract to join the Toronto Raptors. LA signed Gabe Vincent to replace Schroder, so the writing was on the wall for the former Laker.

Schroder wanted to remain with the team, but with it being a business, he moved on. LA will miss him, as he was one of the heartbeats of the squad last season.

Recently Schroder and Lakers guard Austin Reaves faced off against each other at the FIBA World Cup exhibition game. Team USA took on Germany with the Americans coming out on top by a score of 99-91.

The two players paid their respects to each other after the game. It was cool to see them hanging out, but they were good friends during their time together on the team.

They both put together strong performances against each other in the game, with both guys scoring 16 points a piece. Schroder added in 10 assists for his side as well.

When the Raptors and Lakers face off this season, we will likely see them link up once again. It will be a special moment for all involved because of how important Schroder was for the Lakers during his tenure there.

While he isn’t a member of the Lakers this season, he will always be a member of the Lakers family. Once a Laker, always a Laker.
