Lakers News: Iconic Los Angeles Star Apathetic About Where He Ranks All-Time

Such an honest take here from the legend!
In this story:

The Los Angeles Lakers have seen so many talented players come and go throughout their history. They have been a landing spot for some of the best players to ever play the game of basketball and with that comes a very Laker heavy feel to the greatest all-time players.

LA has claim to players like Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabber, LeBron James and many more. But one Lakers star can get overlooked at times despite him being the literal face of the NBA logo and that is Jerry West.

West was great for the Lakers during his playing days back in the 1960s and 1970s. He was a 14-time All-Star, a NBA champion and so much more. He helped grow the game into what it is today and he had an even more successful career as an executive in his post-playing days.

He never really gets mentioned when it comes to the all-time greats but where he lands on a hypothetical ranking is interesting. Recently long-time sports show host Dan Patrick asked West if he cared where he was ranked all-time and his answer was honest and refreshing to say the least.

“No. I don’t live in the past. Been one of those people who has been fortune enough that, um, I guess my egos not big enough to care about that stuff.”

For a person like West to not care about this stuff is interesting because fans seem to be debating things like this all the time. It just shows how mature West is as a person and that he doesn’t want to get catch up in such things.

He knows how good of a player he was and he lets his resume speak for itself. This is the way everything in life should go and maybe, things would be easier at times for all involved.
