Lakers News: Insider Pitches LA Trade For Longtime Target To Bolster Offense
With the NBA season opening this week, the Lakers will begin the year as one of the favorites to win the NBA title. After a strong offseason, they believe they have the team in place to do so.
However, Mo Dakhil of Bleacher Report believes that the Lakers haven’t addressed the biggest issue for this team, which would be their three-point shooting. It has hurt them over the years and could be a problem once again
“This lineup has two non-shooters in Anthony Davis and Jarred Vanderbilt, and an unreliable one in LeBron James.”
Per Mo Dakhil of Bleacher Report
The hope is that the team can generate enough three-point shooting to help keep their offense strong. With the talent that they have on the roster, LA believes that they can make shots at a high rate, giving them a lethal offense to keep up with other teams.
“It has been the same problem for the Los Angeles Lakers the past few years. Do they have enough shooting? ...The one long-shot chance might be finding a way to trade for Buddy Hield. That could be out of reach with the Lakers' lack of assets, though. Their most reasonable option might ultimately be staying with Vanderbilt and hoping the defense keeps them in games.”
Per Mo Dakhil of Bleacher Report
Hield has been linked to the Lakers for a few seasons now, but a trade has never come to fruition. He would give them a legitimate knock-down three-point shooter to space the floor, but it remains to be seen what the Pacers may want for him.
He doesn't meet the timeline for Indiana any longer, and that could see him get moved. But the Lakers have been down this route a few times before, and the Pacers have already played hardball with them.
General Manager Rob Pelinka likely has no intention of trying to trade major assets for Hield, unless he could get something else in return. So, the Heild train may have left the station, at least for now.
