Lakers News: LA Considering Trade For 3 East Role Players
We're almost a week away from the NBA's February 8th trade deadline, and your Los Angeles Lakers remain in the thick of things.
Will the Lakers make a trade, or will they stand pat? Well, at 24-25 as of January 31st, it's obvious the Lakers need to make a move to put themselves in title contenders once again. It won't be easy and may not happen all at once, but we've seen how things turned out after putting the right pieces around LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
A trade is almost inevitable at this point. On Wednesday, The Athletic's Shams Charania reported that the Lakers have "interest" in Brooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie and wing players Dorian Finney-Smith and Royce O'Neale.
The Lakers entered the 2023-2024 season with championship aspirations, and they are a far cry from it right now. They sit one game below .500 and are currently a play-in team.
It's evident a trade needs to be done, and those three players from Brooklyn could provide the Lakers with something they lack: perimeter defense and shooting. Finney-Smith and O'Neale will provide the defense and the occasional shooting. As for Dinwiddie, he is still among the top players at creating his own shot and playmaking ability.
Charania also didn't rule out the possibility of bringing in Atlanta Hawks combo guard Dejounte Murray, who we got a close look at. He killed the Lakers in the fourth quarter, and many Lakers fans would love it if the front office could bring his talents to the West Coast.
Nothing is out of the realm of possibility for the Lakers.
