Lakers News: LA Hall Of Famer Part Of New Ownership Group For NFL Franchise
Today, two athletic worlds have collided as the sell of the NFL's storied franchise, the Washington Commanders, has been made official.
And Laker great, "Magic" Earvin Johnson is a part of that ownership group that will lead the team to a new direction.
NFL Owners have mutually agreed to approve the transaction, purchased by the Harris Ownership Group for a mind-boggling $6.05 billion.
Magic, who's a part of the ownership group, is nothing short of excited of this next chapter in his entrepreneurial book.
"Since beginning my journey as an athlete and now businessman and team owner, it's all been a dream that has come full circle. I grew up playing football as a kid, I’m a huge NFL fan, and I watch games every week. Now, I get to co-own a storied franchise"

Johnson is adding the Commanders to his already heavy list of sports franchises he has some stake in - which also include the Dodgers (MLB), Sparks (WNBA) and the Los Angeles Football Club (MLS Soccer).
The Commanders were forced to be sold by their long-time owner, Dan Snyder, who's been on the news headlines for all the wrong reasons - dealing with many sexual assault and bribing allegations.
It's not the only big change the franchise has experienced in the last few years, as the Washington Commanders were formerly known as the Washington Redskins, before the name was deemed racist and offensive.
Johnson joins an elite group that is led by Business Mogul and owner of the Phildelphia 76ers, Josh Harris, as the next leaders of the Commanders franchise.
