Lakers News: LA Has 2 Picks In Thursday's Draft, Here's How To Watch
The NBA Draft is just a few short days away and it's gearing up to be a wild one. There are rumors flying everywhere about teams trading picks, players and more. The league will welcome a new crop of players into it and these could be future stars that will run things in a few years from now.
The NBA Draft starts at 8 p.m. EST on Thursday, June 22. There are programs covering the draft leading up to the event as well. See below for the full schedule of events.
As of right now, the Lakers have two draft picks. They hold the #17 pick in the first round and the #47 in the second round. With the way that the Lakers scouting department has worked over the last few seasons, both picks could end up becoming key role players for the team if they hold onto the picks.
There has been talk about the Lakers possibly moving one of both picks in order to upgrade their roster. If they are to move a pick, especially the first round one, it would need to be for a starting level caliber player as this draft is loaded. Los Angeles could also use a cheaper player on the roster as the new CBA deal comes into play as well.
It should be a fun few days in Laker land as the team weighs on what to do. Will we see a new young player in the fold? Or will Rob Pelinka and company trade their picks to upgrade the roster? Either way, the Lakers should get better this week and be more ready to compete next season.
