Your Los Angeles Lakers' 2023 season has not gone the way anyone would have liked it to. They've been able to stay around the .500 mark, but the NBA is a daily grind that can bury a team with just a few bad games.

After reaching the Western Conference Finals a season ago, the Lakers were expected to heavily compete this season. However, they seem to have taken a step back and possibly make have hit their ceiling with this core of players.

The front office prioritized continuity this offseason, rather than going to make a splash. It has backfired somewhat this season, but the Lakers are expected to be very active at the trade deadline.

One name to watch for the Lakers is forward Bruce Brown Jr. He was recently traded to the Toronto Raptors as part of the Pascal Siakam trade, but L.A. has had interest in him for a long time.

They almost signed him this offseason before Indiana swapped in with an offer that he couldn't refuse. But now the Lakers are back trying to bring him into the purple and gold.

"If the Toronto Raptors decide to move on from Bruce Brown Jr., the Lakers will have interest in acquiring him, according to team sources. The Lakers coveted Brown last summer and believed they were the favorites to sign him using the team’s nontaxpayer midlevel exception before Indiana swooped in with a cap-space offer."

Adding Brown to the mix won't put the Lakers directly into title contention, but he would help them greatly. His ability to play multiple positions, knock down three-point shots and defend would be massive adds for this group.

Brown killed the Lakers during their playoff series against the Denver Nuggets last year, and L.A. now wants him to help them. This is a player that the front office is seriously interested in, and it feels like they will do whatever they can to land him.
