Lakers News: LA "Increasingly Confident" They Can Sign NBA Champion Forward
The Los Angeles Lakers have some big decisions to make and depending what they do, it will directly impact how they can build their roster. The contracts of guard Malik Beasley and center Mo Bamba are at the center of things and dictate much. If the Lakers elect to bring them back, then they will be limited on how much they can spend on free agents. But if they choose to get rid of both, then it would open up the non-taxpayer midlevel exception for the team.
With this, the Lakers could go after some real talent and upgrade the roster entirely. Recently, it was reported that LA had significant interest in Denver Nuggets forward Bruce Brown Jr. Brown Jr. was a key component for the Nuggets in winning the NBA title and would give the Lakers a versatile defender who can knock down the three.
Lakers insider Jovan Buha added some fuel to the fire, saying that the team is "increasingly confident" that they can sign the forward.
"The Lakers are increasingly confident they can sign Nuggets free-agent wing Bruce Brown Jr. for the non-taxpayer midlevel exception starting at a projected $12.4 million, multiple league sources not authorized to speak publicly on the matter told

If the Lakers could get a talent like Brown, it would be a massive get. He would check all sorts of boxes for the Lakers while also depleting a Western Conference rival in Denver.
Last season for Denver, Brown averaged 11.5 points and 4.1 rebounds. He shot over 35 percent from three but would play a similar role for LA if he did indeed join the team.
Let's see how this plays out but now that both reporters from Denver and LA are talking about this, things could get interesting.
