Lakers News: LA Loses Out on Chris Paul Following Massive Jordan Poole Trade

CP3 and Stephen Curry will now team up!
In this story:

Just like that folks, the Washington Wizards strike again and this time… they are actually landing a young star! They were able to acquire Chris Paul in a blockbuster deal just a couple days ago that saw them part ways with their franchise guy in Bradley Beal.

It was being heavily rumored that the Wizards would wait some time and eventually buy out the 38-year-old point guard. Your Los Angeles Lakers along with the city rival Clippers were listed as heavy favorites to sign the Point God on likely a veteran minimum had that happened.

However, the Golden State Warriors have now changed all of that as they have decided to part ways with Jordan Poole just one season along with picks after signing him to a max extension in exchange for Chris Paul.

Adrian Wojnarowski was the first to report the news with Shams Charania following up soon after with full details.

"ESPN Sources: The Washington Wizards are finalizing a deal to send Chris Paul to the Golden State Warriors for a package that includes Jordan Poole and future draft assets."(Via ESPN)

"Warriors are sending Jordan Poole, a protected first-round pick in 2030 and a second-rounder in 2027 to the Wizards for Chris Paul, league sources said."

Rumors were spiraling about this happening and it makes a lot of sense when you really think about. The Wizards and Lakers have done plenty of business together recently when you remember the Russell Westbrook mega-trade along with one that happened just a few months ago that saw Rui Hachimura land in LA.

However, Chris Paul's situation was a lot more interesting. His contract is expensive yet not super long. By trading him away and adding Jordan Poole, Washington now has a guard that is worth paying and developing with the rest of their young guys.

We are still hours away from the draft and mayhem has already hit... we'll be sure to keep all of you guys posted!
